We base our production on renewable biomass, which is a leftover from other industries like agriculture, forestry, and the chemical industry.
Instead of using fossil resources for the production of goods, we base our process on stuff that grows with sunlight and CO 2. Additionally, the biomass we use is not produced for us, but we use someone else's leftovers: Stuff that emerges from industrial processes and is not efficiently valorized currently.
We value these resources instead of wasting them.
Our little microorganisms have superpowers: they can efficiently convert sugars and other organic molecules into organic acids and alcohols, without losing large amounts of CO2 in their metabolism, like other organisms do.
With our process, these bacteria do the hard work: they convert different sugars from biomass into our products, and they don’t need much to do it.

Why are people not already using this strategy to produce chemicals - you might wonder? It is because the products are produced in a mixed broth with a lot of water and other substances. The challenge is to get rid of the water and everything else and purify the products at a low cost.
